If you feel you are doing everything right, eating well, getting daily movement, being consistent, enjoying your liquid day and still not losing weight then there may be other areas of the body that need looking at that are causing your weight to stubbornly stick around.
Some factors could be:
- Sluggish liver
- Candida
- Hormone imbalance
- Microbiome
- Thyroid
Cortisol, oestrogen and testosterone are steroidal hormones. They can cause the body to increase muscle mass, but high cortisol can also cause muscle wasting. High cortisol can disturb sleep, increase anxiety levels, and interfere with the burning of fat for fuel. If you’re looking for weight loss, you want to burn that fat for fuel! A sluggish liver can also cause weight loss to come to halt and can be known as fatty liver. Your liver is one of the hardest working organs in your body and metabolises your fat, they can become overloaded from poor diet and environmental toxins literally slowing everything down in your body.
Candida is another sneaky one to watch out for as it can be a common and significant barrier to weight loss. Candida is a naturally occurring yeast in the intestinal tract, and is vital for healthy digestion. However, when Candida overgrowth occurs, it can create problems, both with digestive function (gas, bloating etc) and more systemically with fatigue, headaches, brain fog and so on. Part of the dilemma is that the sugar/ carb phenomenon is a catch-22. Yeast feeds off sugar, so a diet high in sugars and carbs will perpetuate Candida overgrowth; and yet Candida overgrowth will set off cravings for more sugars and carbs.
If you do suspect that something is inhibiting your weight loss goals then work with a trained practitioner and get some tests done.
